UV-stabilised Polyethylene film, on an average, transmits about 87% of photo synthetically active radiation (PAR) in to the green house. IR- absorbing polyethylene, which reduces radiant heat loss, transmits about 82% of PAR. When the structure is not in use, the plastic may be removed to prevent unnecessary degradation by UV light. If this is done, as UV- inhibited plastic cover may last for a period of 4 to 5 years.
